The University of Law is delighted to offer an 8-day training programme that will provide an introduction to the key areas of law and practice required to prepare a non-qualified paralegal with no pre-existing legal knowledge to begin their work at a corporate firm.
Course Overview
This programme has been designed specifically for non-qualified paralegals, either graduates or non-graduates, in order to give them an essential understanding of the concepts that exist in corporate law and practice, including types of business entity, the concept of a company and how companies function, and an introduction to the key areas of corporate practice such as M and A, equity and debt finance, flotations, takeovers, joint ventures, and private equity.
Sessions
The interactive 8 day programme will be delivered as face to face training, over a two week period at the end of September between 9.30am and 5.00pm combining lecturer-led sessions and small group exercises using case studies. There will be 4 days training each week with Friday left free to allow for other training or study.

The overall programme will enable paralegals to understand the key concepts and laws which underpin corporate legal practice including:

- Debt finance and taking security
- Contract law
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Share sale and share purchase agreements
- Public company takeovers and the Takeover Code
- Listed companies and the Listing Rules and IPOs

- Joint Ventures
