Everything you need to know about Clearing

Clearing is the opportunity to find the best course for you whether your results aren’t what you expected, you’re a last minute applicant after the normal deadlines or you’ve changed your mind about your course or university late in the day. Clearing matches students without a placement to universities with available places.

When does Clearing start?

Clearing opens on 5 July.

How do I know if I can use Clearing?

You can use Clearing if:

  • You’re applying for the first time after 30 June
  • You didn’t receive any offers
  • You didn’t want to accept any of the offers you received
  • You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers

How can I prepare for Clearing?

Put together a list of universities you’re interested in attending and their Clearing contact details, this way you’ll be ready when the phone lines open. Head into Clearing with a positive attitude and don’t be nervous speaking to people on the phone, or to sell yourself. This is your opportunity to explain why your chosen university would be better with you in it.

How do I know if I’m in Clearing?

Log in to your UCAS hub and if your status reads 'You are in Clearing' or 'Clearing has started' then you are in Clearing. This is also where you’ll find your Clearing number.

How do I search for ULaw courses in Clearing?

You will be able to view a full Clearing vacancy list on the UCAS website. Keep an eye on this list as places will be added as they become available.

How do I apply for a ULaw course during Clearing?

You can apply to ULaw by calling our dedicated Clearing hotline on 0808 3019834 and our specialist advisors will be able to help you with any Clearing questions you may have. You can also message us via our Live Chat function available on our Clearing web page.

What should I have available when I call the ULaw Clearing hotline?

There’s a handful of items that you should have to hand when making calls to your Clearing choices:

Your UCAS ID number and Clearing number

  • Exam results
  • The name of the course you’re interested in
  • Something you can take down important notes with.

I’ve received an offer through Clearing, how do I accept it?

After calling our Clearing hotline (0808 3019834), if we’ve made you a verbal offer, you will need to add the course as your Clearing option in the ‘Your Choices’ section of UCAS Hub. You’ll be able to do this using the details we provide you.

I’ve added my clearing choice, why hasn’t Track updated?

We will review your application and providing you’ve met all the requirements of your offer then we’ll confirm your place.

What grades do I need to apply for a course during clearing?

Entry requirements are available on our individual course pages. However, if you don’t meet these requirements and you would like to attend a ULaw course, call our Clearing hotline to see how we can assist you. We will do all we can to help you and offer plenty of options to help students continue their education.

Can I decline my earlier offers and go through Clearing?

We recommend you first  discuss this with the university involved. If you still wish to decline your firm and insurance choices, you can release yourself into Clearing via UCAS Hub. Once your status has changed and you are in receipt of a clearing offer, you will be able to add a Clearing choice.

Can I apply for the same course at ULaw if you declined me in the first place?

Sometimes this is possible, call our Clearing hotline (0808 3019834) to discuss your situation and we’ll let you know.
